Antalya in October 2026: Weather, Sea Temperature & Autumn Excursions Guide
As the golden days of summer fade across the UK and Northern Europe, giving way to chilly mornings and persistent autumn drizzle, seasoned Mediterranean travellers turn their gaze south. Just a four-hour flight from London, Manchester, or Birmingham lies the Turkish Riviera—and in October, it reveals its best-kept secret.
While July and August in Antalya bring scorching 42°C heatwaves that confine holidaymakers to air-conditioned hotel lobbies, October delivers what many consider Mediterranean perfection. The mercury settles into an idyllic 26°C to 28°C during the day, humidity drops from suffocating midsummer peaks down to a crisp 50%, and the Mediterranean Sea—having absorbed summer heat for months—remains bath-warm at 25°C.
Whether you are planning an October half-term family getaway, a peaceful couples' retreat without the summer crowds, or an active adventure exploring Greco-Roman ruins, October 2026 is Antalya's ultimate sweet spot. In this comprehensive guide, Sun Travel Tours—your licensed local Antalya travel agency (TÜRSAB-accredited)—shares verified climate facts, packing advice, regional resort guides, and the season's top excursions.

2. Weather & Sea Temperature by Period
October features a distinct transition between its first and second half, both offering exceptional holiday conditions.
Early October (1st to 15th October): The Summer Extension
The first fortnight of October feels like a dream version of Mediterranean summer. The sun shines for nearly 9 hours daily, with daytime highs reaching 28°C to 30°C. Unlike July's blistering heat, the autumn sun is gentle on the skin.
The sea temperature averages an inviting 25.5°C to 26°C. Because seawater cools very slowly, the Mediterranean is significantly warmer now than in June (which averages 23°C to 24°C)! Beach clubs, watersports, and boat trips in Lara, Side, and Kemer operate in full swing.
Late October (16th to 31st October): Half-Term Sunshine & Mild Evenings
Coinciding with the British autumn school half-term, the climate shifts into a mild Mediterranean autumn. Daytime highs hover around 23°C to 25°C—ideal t-shirt weather for open-air exploring, golfing in Belek, or strolling along historic harbours.
Evenings turn cooler, settling around 13°C to 15°C after sunset (around 18:15). You will want a light jacket or knit cardigan for alfresco marina dining. Showers occur on average only 5 to 6 days across the entire month, typically taking the form of brief, localized downpours over the Taurus Mountains that clear quickly to blue skies. The sea remains wonderfully swimmable at ~24°C right through to November.
3. Why October is the Secret "Golden Month"
- No More 42°C Heat or Stifling Humidity: Midsummer in Antalya can be physically overwhelming for Northern European travellers, with humidity topping 80%. In October, humidity drops to 50%, letting you explore ancient cities and mountain paths comfortably from morning until evening.
- Calmer Atmosphere and Zero Queues: The peak summer rush ends in late September. Sun loungers at hotel pools and beaches are easy to find without morning towel-dash rituals, seaside restaurants have ample space, and UNESCO sites can be appreciated in peace.
- Peak Season for Active Excursions: Clear autumn air provides unmatched visibility across the Gulf of Antalya, making October prime time for hiking, boat cruises, and inland cultural tours.
4. What to Pack & Clothing Advice
- Daytime Essentials: Pack breathable linen shirts, cotton t-shirts, shorts, summer dresses, and swimwear. The Mediterranean sun remains strong, so bring high-SPF sunscreen, sunglasses, and a sun hat. Sturdy trainers or walking shoes are essential for exploring uneven ancient ruins.
- Light Evening Layers: Temperatures drop by roughly 10°C after sunset. Pack a denim jacket, lightweight jumper, cardigan, or pashmina, alongside a couple of pairs of smart trousers or chinos for outdoor evening dinners.
- Mountain Excursions (e.g. Mount Tahtalı): If ascending to the 2,365-metre peak of Mount Tahtalı or heading into the Taurus range, temperatures can be 12°C to 15°C colder than the coast. Bring a windproof fleece, warm mid-layer, and closed footwear.
