How to Get from Antalya Airport to Your Hotel (Kemer, Belek, Side, Alanya)
Landing at Antalya International Airport (AYT) is the thrilling first step of your Mediterranean vacation. But once you collect your luggage, you face the real challenge: getting to your hotel.
Because the "Antalya region" is so vast—stretching over 200 kilometers along the coastline—your resort could be anywhere from 15 minutes to 2.5 hours away from the airport. Navigating a foreign airport with luggage (and possibly tired children) can be stressful.
To help you start your holiday smoothly, here is a complete guide to your transfer options for Kemer, Belek, Side, and Alanya.
1. Pre-Booked Private Transfers (The Most Recommended)
For the vast majority of tourists, booking a private transfer online before you fly is the absolute best option.
- How it works: A professional driver waits for you at the arrivals hall holding a sign with your name. They assist with your luggage and drive you directly to your hotel lobby.
- The Pros: Fixed pricing (no meter anxiety), flight tracking (if your flight is delayed, they wait), and zero waiting in line. Unlike shared resort shuttle buses that stop at 10 different hotels before yours, a private transfer is direct.
- The Cons: It requires booking in advance, and it is slightly more expensive than public transport (though often cheaper than a metered taxi for long distances).
Tip: Just like our Sun Travel Tours excursions which include seamless hotel pick-up and drop-off, a private airport transfer guarantees that you travel in a modern, air-conditioned, and fully insured vehicle.
2. Airport Taxis (The Spontaneous Option)
As soon as you walk out of the terminal, you will see a massive line of official yellow taxis.
- The Pros: Ultimate convenience if you forgot to book a transfer. They are available 24/7.
- The Cons: Taxis run on a meter. If there is heavy traffic, or if your hotel is in a distant region like Alanya (over 130km away), the final price can be exceptionally high. Always confirm the estimated price with the driver before loading your luggage.
3. Public Transport & Airport Shuttles (The Budget Option)
If you are traveling on a strict budget, backpack traveling, or traveling solo, public transport is available, but it requires patience.
- Havaş Shuttles / AntRay Tram: You can take the Havaş bus or the modern AntRay tram directly from the airport to the Antalya Intercity Bus Terminal (Otogar).
- The Connection: From the Otogar, you must find a regional bus or minibus (dolmuş) heading to your specific destination (Kemer, Side, Alanya).
- The Cons: This is not recommended for families or those with heavy luggage. It involves multiple transfers, waiting times, and the regional buses will drop you off on the main highway or central bus station, meaning you will still need a local taxi to reach your actual hotel door.
Travel Times and Distances from AYT
Knowing how far your hotel is will help you choose the right transport. Here are the average drive times for a direct, private vehicle:
- Lara / Kundu / Antalya City Center: ~15 to 25 minutes. (A quick taxi ride is perfectly fine here).
- Belek: ~35 to 45 minutes. (Known for golf courses and luxury resorts).
- Kemer: ~1 to 1.5 hours. (Located west of Antalya, nestled between the mountains and the sea. See our Kemer Excursions).
- Side: ~1 to 1.5 hours. (Located to the east, famous for its ancient ruins. See our Side Excursions).
- Alanya: ~2 to 2.5 hours. (The furthest major resort town. A pre-booked private transfer is highly recommended to make this long journey comfortable. See our Alanya Excursions).
Conclusion
Don't let the logistics of arriving in a new country stress you out. For short distances like Lara or the City Center, a taxi is fine. But if you are heading to Kemer, Belek, Side, or Alanya, do yourself a favor and pre-book a private transfer. You'll arrive at your resort relaxed, refreshed, and ready to start exploring the beautiful Turkish Riviera! Once you are settled at your resort, explore seamless day trips with included door-to-door transfers, such as The Land of Legends Theme Park, the Antalya City Tour, or a cruise on the Mega Star Yacht Tour.
